Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Apex View, how it connects to your reef, and how we keep your data secure.

What is Apex View?

Apex View is an independent, third-party iOS app that gives you a clean, fast dashboard for monitoring your Neptune Apex reef aquarium controller. It is not made by or affiliated with Neptune Systems.

Do I need an Apex Fusion account?

Yes. Apex View connects through your existing Apex Fusion cloud account to pull live data from your controller. You sign in with your Fusion credentials and your controller appears automatically.

Does it work with all Apex controllers?

Apex View works with any Neptune Apex controller that is connected to Apex Fusion, including the Apex, Apex EL, and legacy models with Fusion access.

What data can I see?

Temperature, pH, alkalinity, calcium, magnesium, ORP, salinity, and any other probes connected to your Apex — including Trident readings. You can also monitor equipment power draw in real-time watts and amps.

What are the home screen widgets?

Apex View includes widgets in three sizes (small, medium, and large) that display your most important readings right on your home screen. You choose which probes to show, and they update automatically in the background.

Can I trigger Feed Mode from the app?

Yes. You can start and cancel your Apex feed cycle directly from the dashboard or from a home screen widget without opening Apex Fusion.

Does Apex View control my equipment?

Apex View is focused on monitoring. You can trigger and cancel feed cycles, but full outlet control and programming is handled through the official Apex Fusion app.

Is my data safe?

Your Fusion credentials are stored locally on your device using the iOS Keychain, which is encrypted and hardware-backed. Apex View has no servers, no analytics, no tracking, and no advertising. Your data never leaves your device except to communicate directly with Apex Fusion.

Does it work offline or on my local network?

Apex View supports a local connection mode for accessing your Apex controller directly over your home network without going through Fusion. This requires your Apex's local IP address and credentials.

Is this an official Neptune Systems app?

No. Apex View is an independent project built by a reef hobbyist. It is not developed, endorsed, or supported by Neptune Systems. Neptune Apex, Apex Fusion, and Trident are trademarks of Neptune Systems.

What iOS version do I need?

Apex View requires iOS 17.0 or later.

How much does it cost?

Apex View is free during the beta period. Pricing may change in the future.
